History of the Berggasthof Königstuhl

1832
The construction of the observation tower on the Königstuhl marks the beginning of the development of Heidelberg’s local mountain for tourism.

The first mountain hotel is built to cater for guests at an impressive altitude.

The upper cable car is opened, making the Königstuhl even more accessible and increasing visitor numbers.

The original building is rebuilt and modernized several times before it is finally demolished.

THE HEIDELBERG FAMILY

Ueberle family

The married couples Philipp and Ilka Ueberle and Fritz and Nicolette run the house together. The hoteliers are true Heidelberg veterans. The brothers have 25 years of gastronomic experience and have successfully managed the Bootshaus restaurant, the Hotel Auerstein and the Deutscher Kaiser in Heidelberg.
